The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Basil Vokey can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Rosalind Britton
Condolence: I was so sad to learn of both Rosie and Basil's passing last year. I only realised that they might not be with us anymore when I didn't receive a Xmas card. They were wonderful friends to my Mother (Margaret Vatcher) from childhood as Rosie and my Mother were neighbours growing up on the battery in the St John's harbour in the 1920-30s. I too have fond memories from our visits to Newfoundland - they were such a lovely couple and with such a large family! I am glad that they are now at peace and I am sure that as a family you will all miss them enormously. I feel that I have lost almost my last link to Newfoundland with their passing but my memory of them will be with me forever.

To the Vokey Family:

I offer my sincere condolences to you all
on the passing of your parents during the
Spring. They were my neighbours for
several years at Clover Brae and I have
only happy memories of two beautiful
people whom I was privileged to know.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
May they rest in peace.

I was lucky enough to know. My thoughts
and prayers are with you all.

Condolence: The Vokey Family
We were saddened to hear of Bas's passing. However, he had a long and good life, and like so many others we have wonderful memories of a very positive and pleasant man. When we arrived in St. John's and started attending Elim Tabernacle we were always encouraged by Bas and Rosie's approach to family and church. His legacy will be forever etched in our minds. Rosie, our prayers are with you and the entire family at this time.
God Bless

Condolence: Stuart & Family,
Please accept my sincere condolence on your Dad's passing. I have many pleasant memories of working with him at TCA and latterly Air Canada. I was so pleased to see him just last year at a Tim Hortons with you, and to be able to tell him how much I enjoyed working with him in our airline industry. RIP.
