Obituary for Roy George White

WHITE, Roy George – Roy G. White, age 76 of Masonic Park, Mount Pearl succumbed to cancer at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Roy is survived by his wife Loretta of 57 years; daughters: Rennie (Terry) Hoddinott, Rhonda (Bill) Goudie; son Barry (Trina) White; brothers: Gerald (Carolyn) White and Wayne (Peggy) White; sister, Sylvia Greeley; grandchildren: Emily Hoddinott, Kelti Goudie, Mark Hoddinott and Cameron Goudie. Predeceased by parents, George and Gwendolyn White; sister, Margaret White; brother-in-law, Winston Greeley. Roy was born in Carbonear, NL and moved to Labrador City with his family in 1962, where he spent his career at IOCC. After retiring in the 80’s he returned to Newfoundland, enjoying life in Clarke’s Beach and, later, wintering in Masonic Park, Mount Pearl. He was an avid ham operator and computer lover, building his first machines himself. Roy had been an active member of the Canadian Rangers and proud to serve. His love of music was lifelong, especially singing and playing for the seniors. As per his request, there will be no visitation or service. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
