Condolence From: Eric Cumby
Condolence: John was a co-worker and a friend for many years. A wise, learned and intelligent man who always had time to mentor and share insights on a wide variety of life's twists and turns. Held great respect for the three ladies in his life, his wife Anne and his two daughters. Will miss our lunches and chats. Will remember John with respect and affection.

Condolence From: Parkinson Society Newfoundland and Labrador
Condolence: Patricia, Margaret and all of John's family and many friends - on behalf of the Parkinson Society Newfoundland and Labrador, please accept our sincerest condolences on your father's passing. As a driving force behind the creation of our Society, John's commitment to our mission, which is really your mom's legacy, remained steadfast throughout the years. I remember many meetings at their house in the early 1990's when my father the other early members were working with them to get the Society on a stable footing. Your parents were always welcoming, smart and funny. When John sent in a donation to the Society just before Christmas, he added a note on his cheque - "Don't spend it all on Beer!" He was quite a guy. I will miss visiting with him to discuss the Society's many new programs and services. One of the last things he said to me was: "Anne would be very happy with what you guys are doing!" That was very high praise indeed. We will all miss him very much. If there is anything that we can do for you during this time, please do not hesitate to ask. Sincerely, Derek Staubitzer, Executive Director, PSNL

Condolence From: Annette and Dave Carberry
Condolence: Patricia, Margaret and family, We are truly saddened to hear of your father's passing. I (Annette) worked with Mr. Rutherford for a short time before his retirement but in that short time, he left a lasting impression and I will never forget him. Always pretending to be a curmudgeon but in truth such a kind hearted, funny and intelligent man. I can't help but smile when I think of him, which I have done often over the years. We both enjoyed bumping into him, which wasn't often enough, and having a chat. Take care.

Condolence From: Wayne and Margaret Davis
Condolence: Patricia, Margaret and family. We were deeply saddened to hear of John's passing. I chatted with him after he got back from Ontario after his Xmas trip, never imagined it would be for the last time. He was an intelligent man well versed in a variety of topics, an incredible memory and a kind and generous soul. A good neighbor, will miss him. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure...he is now united with Anne, our thoughts and prayers are with you

Condolence: Our condelences to all of John’s family. We hadn’t known John very long as his next door neighbours (at 115), but from our occasional chats with him he was a fascinating, humorous and gentle man. We were very sad to hear of his passing, and we know he will be missed.
