Obituary for Normand Joseph Richard Ares

Normand Joseph Richard Ares
Normand, Joseph, Richard Ares
January 3, 1944-February 2, 2018
For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.
With broken hearts, we said goodbye to our darling husband, father, grandfather,
Uncle, brother in law and friend. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Emelienne and his parents in law (who loved him like a son), George and Hazel Kolesar and sister in law Catherine Louise Kolesar Riley.
Leaving to celebrate his life with grateful hearts are the love of his life, Beverley, his
dear children, Richard and Elizabeth (Rodney) and the joy of his life grandchildren,
Amelia Ares Mitchell, Alexander Ares and Natalie Ares Mitchell. Also leaving are his sisters in law, Bonnie (Jeff), Holly (Jim), Nancy (Wayne), Kelly (Paul), and brothers in law Jerry (Cheryl), Trevor (Susan), and many nieces and nephews. Normand grew up as an only child and enjoyed his big family through marriage. He was always whistling, humming and singing. He was so happy and surprised that when he was 60 years old he was ‘found’ by a half sister, Louise and embraced her with love.
Normand embraced life, laughed heartily, and was ‘game for’ new experiences.
Although he was born in Hamilton Ontario, he loved Newfoundland with a passion
and often said that he wouldn't leave home, only feet first.
He loved to collect things, play scrabble and go to garage sales and flea markets.
In 1976, he established Seal Cove Grocery in Seal Cove CBS. He enjoyed meeting new neighbours and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr H Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. Do a random act of kindness in his memory. He would like that.

Visitations are from 2-4 and 6-8 on Sunday, February 4 at Barrett's Funeral Home on Hamilton Avenue. Funeral service will be on Monday February 5, at 11am at Barrett’s Chapel with Rev Bruce Kearley from Topsail United church officiating.

Good night my darling, I will see you in the morning.
