Condolence: Susan and Tom; I am so sorry for your loss and I so admire how you both cared for your Dad as his illness progressed. He was so fortunate to have you both and your families.

Mike, Terry and Catherine; I know Don's passing leaves a huge hole in your hearts. It was my pleasure to get to know you all during your many visits to Bonaventure, thank you for all you did for Don and the residents.

Condolence: I am so sorry that I did not attend Don's funeral. I got to know Don when he ran as the NL NDP candidate in Trinity-Bay de Verde. He could so easily connect with people and had a sincere interest in others. He was also very intelligent and seemed to have far-ranging interest in all sorts of things. It was my honour to know and work with him, even for that brief time, in 2007. I send my deepest condolences to his family and all those who loved him.

Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to the Penney family on the passing of Don. I met Don at Bonaventure Retirement Home where my Mother resided between 2013 and 2016. In spite of his illness Don was always cheerful, positive of mind and an absolute pleasure to chat to. He even came to Fred's records once along with two other residents to visit me at work. But most of all I'll always remember the kindness Don extended to my Mom who was suffering with Dementia. And she was very fond of him. I would stop and chat with Don 2 or 3 times a week over the course of a few years. My last talk with him was on Remembrance Day, Nov. 11th last year. I dropped off a few boxes of deserts for the residents and it was important that I got to visit Don who was in his room at the time. He very proudly talked about the photographs of several family members adorning his walls. I'm so glad I had the privilege to see him, shake his hand and wish him well at that time. He was an absolute gentleman always. Rest in peace, Don. Thank you for being a part of my life experience.
