KEATS, Maisie Sarah (nee Vey) – Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre surrounded by her family on Monday, March 5th, 2018 after a short illness. Maisie, formerly from Bay de Verde and born in Grates Cove, was 93 years old. Maisie chose to leave her military career as a member of the RCAF Women’s Corps to become a military wife, stay at home mother and home maker.
She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years Hayward Keats. She is survived by her children Wendy (Brendan Walsh) of Flatrock, James (Judy Keats) of Mount Pearl, Debbie Carroll (Perry Grandy) of Torbay, Bruce (Jackie Nemesvary) of Ottawa and Brian Keats of Ottawa; grandchildren: Jeanette Walsh, Johnathan Walsh (Kendra Lester), Joshua Keats (Chastity Keats), Stephen Carroll (Tracey Boland), Jordon Keats, Alexandra Keats and special first great grandchild Fox Keats.
She is also predeceased by siblings Winnifred Barrett, Fran Hart, Janet Wildsmith, Blanche Hockley, Rita Noel, Betty Kowalski, Jack Hodder and Son-In-Law Joseph R. Carroll.
Maisie will be greatly missed as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. We will always cherish her ability to reminisce about her childhood memories of Grates Cove.

Cremation has taken place. Visitations will be on Wednesday, March 7th from 1pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue. A service of celebration of life will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Thursday, March 8th at 11am with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Field of Honour.
