Obituary for Shirley Jean Butt

Shirley Jean  Butt
Passed away suddenly but peacefully on March 11,2018 at Saint Luke’s Homes, Shirley Jean Butt (nee Antle), in her 88th year. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of happy memories, her husband of 58 years, Malcolm (Mac), daughters, Rhonda, Carla and her husband, Paul Blackwood, son Roger and partner the Rev. Grant McNeil (Ottawa), grandchildren Melissa Spurrell (Dr. Mark) and children William and Alexander, Dr. Amanda Blackwood (Colin Viertelhausen), Jessica Goodman (Jim), sisters Genevieve Milani (James) Ottawa, Dorothy Cofield, Florida, Marjorie Clark (Donald), Patricia Dicks (Dominic), sister-in-law Alice Antle, brothers-in-law William Auchinleck and Fred Vail. Also leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews and a much cherished circle of dear friends. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the special relationships Shirley had with Pam Smith, Louise Theriault, Geri Brown and Roxanne Andrews.
Predeceased by sisters Edith Lester (Clarence), Florence French (Leonard), Marie Ash (Thomas), Ruth Auchinleck, Joan Tucker (John), Clarice Vail, June Norman (Kevin) and only brother Robert Antle.
In recent years, Shirley’s life was much enriched by the kindness and support of staff and residents of both Tiffany Village and Saint Luke’s Homes, notably Pleasantview Terrace unit. For that, we are forever grateful.
Cremation has taken place. Family visitation will be at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave, St. John’s on Tuesday, March 13, 2:00-4:00, 7:00-9:00 and Wednesday, March 14, 2:00-4:00, 7:00-9:00. Funeral service to take place at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Logy Bay Road, St. John’s, Thursday, March 15th at 2:00. Interment to take place at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted, or a donation in Shirley’s memory may be made to Saint Luke’s Homes-Pleasantview Terrace unit.
