Obituary for John A. Rooney

John A.  Rooney
Passed peacefully away at his home in the presence of his loving wife on Saturday, March 24, 2018, William John Alexander Stetstone Rooney, a loving husband, father and grandfather, age 83 years. Predeceased by his parents: Alexander & Ethel; sister: Jennifer Kitchen; brother: David; brother-in-law: Barry Cockerline. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 51 years: Shirley Marie; son: Alex (Izabella); daughter: Jennifer (David MacHenry); grandchildren: Aidan Alexander, Leila Marie, Caitlin Grace; brother: James (Maxine); sister: Carolyn Cockerline; brother-in-law: Gary Day (Gerrie), Bill Day (Fiona) and Hubert Kitchen; sister-in-law: Ruth; many nieces and nephews; special cousins in Lower Island Cove: Florence, Mabel (Phil), Myrtle (John), Fred (Gerie), Gordon (Peggy), Jacqueline (Ike), Esther in Capelin Cove and Cynthia (Williamson) of the UK . A heartfelt thanks to the Nurse Practitioners, Rody & Angela of the Heart Failure Clinic at the Health Science Centre and to his caregiver at home, Margaret. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitations on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 2pm-9pm. Funeral service to take place from Wesley United Church on Wednesday, March 28 at 2pm. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Health Care Foundation or Gower Street United Church.
