Passed peacefully away on April 20, 2018, Dorothy Vera Grouchy (nee Williams). Predeceased by her husband Alex F. Grouchy; son, Alex R. Grouchy; sisters, Kathleen Tipton and Ursula Johnson; brothers, Philip and Angus Williams. Leaving with fond and loving memories her daughters; Carol Ann, Kathleen Grouchy (Joseph Taaffe) and children Liam and Orlagh; son Douglas (Christine Swantee) and children Carly and Samantha; sister Blanche St. George (Kevin), Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn special family friends Lizzie O’Dea and Rosemary Gladney, as well as other relatives and friends. Dorothy was born in Bay Bulls and moved to St. John's to start a career with the Royal Bank of Canada at the young age of 16. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed a long career with the bank and retired in 1984. In retirement Dorothy returned to Bay Bulls frequently and travelled often to St. Lucia and Vancouver to visit with family and friends. She will be forever loved and dearly missed. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitations on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2pm-9pm. Funeral service to take place from Barrett’s Chapel on Monday, April 23 at 10am. Reception to follow downstairs at Barrett’s Reception Lounge. Interment to take place at 12pm at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
