Obituary for Ethel Bertha Berthelson Jarvis

Ethel Bertha Berthelson  Jarvis
Passed away in the presence of family on May 9th, 2018, Ethel Jarvis aged 89 years. Ethel was born in English Point, Forteau Bay, Labrador and in 1948 married Stephen (Dick) Jarvis who was a Newfoundland Ranger and later a RCMP officer. Ethel and Stephen were great lovers of Newfoundland and Labrador and felt very privileged to live in many communities in the province during Stephen’s career. In 2013 Ethel was awarded the Second Man award by the RCMP for the support she provided her husband as he served in rural and remote detachments in the province. Predeceased by: her father and mother Ernest and Laura Trimm (nee Bell) husband Stephen Jarvis; brothers Robert, Stanley and Lewis Trimm; and sisters Effie Buckle, Winnifred Yetman, and Gertrude Gould. Ethel was very proud of her family and leaves to mourn her children: Bonnie (Joe) Lowe, Margaret (Geoffrey) Winsor, David Jarvis (Colette), Beryl (Wilson) Belbin, and Kathleen (Ken) Stevens; grandchildren: John (Kim), Heather (Lance), Stephen (Karen), Karen (Kirby), David (Heather), Christopher (Alla), Laura (Mike), Susan (David), Richard, Paula (Lucas), Robbie, Elizabeth, and Daniel; great grandchildren: Kylee, Aiden, Nolan, Reed, Claire, Erik, Ayla, Ronan, James, Natalie and Ivan. As well as the Trimm family, special cousin Frank (Matilda) Cluett and son Donald; and special family friend Héléne Foucault McAnany (Louis). The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for their stellar care and understanding during the past year. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Friday May 11th, 2018 from 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm. Funeral service will take place at West End Baptist Church Saturday May 12th, 2018 at 11 am, interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Field of Honour. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Ethel’s name to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home.
