Obituary for Gerald "Rex" Meadus

Gerald  "Rex"  Meadus
MEADUS - Gerald Rex - September 1, 1941 -May 31, 2018 age 76 years. Rex passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on May 31, 2018, at the L.A. Miller Centre after living with the ups and downs of multiple myeloma treatment for over 15 years.Rex was a retired teacher having taught at Bishop Feild College and Macdonald Drive Junior High. He is predeceased by his parents: Vina and Llewellyn Meadus; his sister Josephine Lambert; his first wife Phyllis Lambert; and his niece, Wanda Martin. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Joan; his children: Renee (Cory) McGrath, Rod (Lori) Meadus, Gillian (Simon) Dawe-Taylor and Andrea (Chris) Janes; eight grandchildren: Emma and Noah McGrath, Josselyn and Pearson Meadus, Sarah and Ellie Mia Taylor, and Hilary and Aiden Janes. Also, in mourning siblings: Beverly (Doug) Martin, Patsy (Wayne) Noonan, Roland (Marie Lambert), Zelda (Ted) Harris; brother-in-law: Bob Lambert; sister-in-law: Marjorie (Jim) Harris; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at 4 North A of the Health Sciences Centre (especially Dr. Kirsty Tompkins) and the L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit for all their attention and care. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., St. John’s on Saturday June 2 from 2:00 -5:00 and 7:00 -9:00pm and Sunday June 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Barrett’s Funeral Chapel 328 Hamilton Ave. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rex’s memory to the Myeloma Canada or to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation (Patient and Family Support Fund).
