Passed away suddenly at his home in Mount Pearl in the early morning of Monday, June 18, 2018, Rodney (Rod) French in his 73rd year. Rod is predeceased by his parents, Myrtle and Oswald French. Leaving to mourn his loving son Adam; Adam’s wife Kim; Adam’s mother Maddie; Rod’s special aunt Phyllis Mercer of Bay Roberts; cousins, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends. Rod will also be remembered as a well-known news reporter and hockey broadcaster with the VOCM News Service and for his contributions to the local music community as a member of both The Belairs and the Ravens. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday, June 21st at 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral Service will be held from First United Church, Park Ave, Mount Pearl on Friday, June 22nd at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rod’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home.
