Obituary for Hubert Edward Horton

Horton, Hubert Edward – Passed peacefully away on Monday, July 16, 2018, in the presence of his loving family at age 93 from Kilbride. A Veteran of World War II , a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment #166, and was a retiree from the city of St. John’s where he provided service for over 40 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn (Stanley) ; parents Albert and Alfreda Horton; infant sisters Eileen and Florence; sisters: Mary Haines (Wilson deceased), Genevieve Mitchell (Neil deceased), Veronica Poole (William deceased), Josephine Bursey, and Veina Allen (Dennis); and great grandson Kaeden. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughters: Linda Welk (Ed deceased), Hope Boyle (Harry), Rosalie Sinnott (Robert), Rosalind Parsons (Barry), and Debbie Peddle (Victor deceased); special granddaughter, who he currently resided with, Lori Whelan (Peter); grandchildren: Tina, Hubert, Charlene, Corrine, Sammy, Rob, Dana, Karen, John, Stanley, and Kelsey; great-grandchildren : Alyssa, Kaitlyn, William, Jared, Abbie, Luke, Kailey, Evan, Brandon, Madison, Kendall, Anna, Kristopher, and Kiera; brother Clarence Horton (Elizabeth deceased); sisters: Rose Scoville (Gerald), Evelyn Roberts (Ralph), and Edna Howlett (Francis); as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Wednesday, July 18th, from 2:00pm- 4:00pm and from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, July 19th, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Goulds at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Main Road, Goulds. Celebration of his life to follow at St. Paul’s Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
