Passed peacefully away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Agnes Pratt Home, Joseph Ennis of St. John’s, formerly of Burnt Cove and Merasheen Island. He has gone to join his loving wife Mary (Doyle) Ennis who predeceased him by just 2 months. They were together in life for 54 years even to the point of entering long term care together on the same day after both having been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. They are now in their heavenly home together with all their relatives and friends. Predeceased also by parents: John & Elizabeth Ennis, parents-in-law: Charlie & Mary Doyle, brothers: James, Patrick and infant brothers Johnny and Billy; sisters: Nance (brother-in-law Jack Gosse), Mary (brother-in-law Cyril White), and Margaret Brown, also sister-in-law Madonna Doyle. Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories his children: Jody (Michelle) Ennis and Jillian (Ian) Whittle, cherished and dearly loved grandchildren: Ava and Keegan Ennis, loving sister: Catherine (Hayward) Newhook, brothers: Thomas (Theresa), Austin (Ann), brothers-in-law: Larry Brown, Patrick Doyle, Stephen (Bernice) Doyle, sisters-in-law: Myrtle Ennis & Esther Ennis, as well as Aunt Gertrude Grouchy. Missing him also will be numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including his caregivers at Agnes Pratt Home. Joseph lived a very busy and productive life as a loyal member of his church and community as well as an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he served many years as Grand Knight. His was a life well lived. He will be resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Wednesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 9 from 2-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Friday, August 10 at 2 pm, with cremation to follow.
