Obituary for Derek Paul Bartlett

Derek Paul Bartlett
DEREK PAUL BARTLETT
Age 64.
Derek passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by Mom and Dad: Elizabeth (Betty) and Harry. Leaving to mourn sister Jo-Anne Brennan (Jerome); his brothers: Harry (Patsy), Brian (Kathy), Don (Allana), Paul (Michele) and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Derek loved music and sports. He played on numerous Mount Pearl teams in his early years, his enthusiasm and smile always made a positive contribution. Derek had a unique gift of remembering numbers, especially phone numbers. He had more sport’s stats on players and teams in his head than Kellogg’s had Cornflakes. He was delighted to engage in sports conversations especially regarding the Mount Pearl teams and players from the 70’s right up to today.
A special thanks to the staff at Eastern Health and Derek’s caregivers over the years; staff at Waterford North 3A, Pauline Porter’s Community Care Home and Ocean View Guest Home. Visitation to take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Sunday, November 4th, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Memorial service to be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Monday, November 5th, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Mental Health Association Newfoundland and Labrador(https://cmhanl.ca/). Please visit www.barretts.ca to sign the memorial guest book.
