Passed peacefully away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Saint Lukes Homes, Bertha Butler, age 102 years. Predeceased by her husband Hector; daughter Betty; sons Hector (Isla), Max & Ray; parents Mary & John Brake; daughter-in-law Olive; brothers Don (Sophie) & Jack (Lucy); sisters Olive (Russell) & Ruby (Bill). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons David (Bonnie) and Gerry (Ruth); grandchildren Brad, Ken (his mother Diane Hodder), Karen, Doug, Paul, Pamela, Geoff, Gerry, Stephen, Diane & Lynn; several great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Anne Butler; special angel Gloria McHugh; many nieces, nephews and a large circle of extended family & friends. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Saint Lukes Homes for their care and compassion. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitations on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 7pm-9pm and Tuesday, January 15 from 10am-12pm. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel at 2pm on Tuesday with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A reception will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Bertha’s memory may be made to VOWR or a charity of one’s choice.
