Passed peacefully away in the presence of her cherished daughter and granddaughter at the Palliative Care Unit (LA Miller Centre) on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the age of 86. Predeceased by mother Beatrice Squires, step-father Tasker Squires, aunt Helen Perry and husband Gordon, special cousin Gerald Perry, as well as other much loved family members. Leaving to mourn with many beautiful memories are her daughter Simone French, devoted granddaughter Sarah French (Adam), brother and sister-in-law Wilfred and Susan Squires, six nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and nephews, also dear lifelong friend Shirley Birmingham as well as other relatives and friends. Cuddles will be missed by furry friend Rosie. Deepest thanks to the exceptional nurses, doctors and support staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Noreen Fardy, community health nurses Marina and Trina, Dr. John Shik and nurse Paula, Judy Inkpen of Compassion Homecare, as well as numerous family and friends who were by our side during Nana’s final journey. Cremation and private family funeral have taken place at Barrett’s on Hamilton Avenue as per Betty’s wishes. Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of one’s choice. You’ll be forever missed, dear Nana.
